]]>Today it is possible to understand very early if our children have a hard time with their eyes. Already before kindergarten it is possible to check that they do not suffer from astigmatism, myopia or other problems, and intervene immediately with some corrective lenses to reduce the difficulties.
Eyewear manufacturers have also adapted and developed models made specifically for boys and girls, to see better and be able to lead a normal life.
Vision prevention is very important, and doctors today can do it early diagnosis even on children preschool.

Compared to adults, boys and girls have a face with some specific characteristics and eyewear must respect this specificity of theirs.
For example, the root of the nose usually lies lower than in adults, and it is necessary that the glasses follow the facial conformation of children.
Also with regard to the size of the glasses, you need to make sure that it covers the eye well and that the lens is also useful when the child looks down to read.
In general, let's remember that more than design we need to be careful about comfort, so long as for the child it is much more important to see well and not have difficulties rather than "make a good impression". In general this principle should also apply to adults but we know that it is often difficult to resist vanity.

Glasses should not be seen as an imposition, but as one shared choice to make sure that he feels them as his own and not as an imposition of the parents.
Even the eyewear model, as far as possible, it should be chosen by the child so that he is even happier to carry them every day with pride.
It happens sometimes, and we also see it in our Mondelliani stores, that parents choose for the child according to their personal tastes. This must absolutely be avoided.

Fortunately, solutions have been developed for many years that allow for lenses that darken automatically, also said photochromic. Thanks to special precautions they become sensitive to light and change shades based on the amount of UVA, UVB and infrared rays received.
Thanks to a special treatment, the photochromic lenses they are coated with materials that through a chemical reaction they darken or become transparent again based on exposure to sunlight.
The reaction occurs in contact with i UVA, UVB and infrared rays. Although it seems a recent discovery, the first experiments were done as far back as the 1960s!
Mostly the transition speed in the transition from transparent to colored it was increased, coming to have a complete transition from dark to transparent (and vice versa) in just a few minutes.
If in the past it could happen that the glasses darkened even inside environments illuminated by artificial light, today the lenses change color only when illuminated by the UV rays of the sun.
Wear photochromic lenses it doesn't bother you inside your home or office, the glasses remain transparent and you do not notice any difference compared to glasses with standard lenses.
In addition, the modern photochromic lenses like those created by Essilor they also combine one darkening protection from blue rays, essential to avoid fatigue due to the excessive use of electronic devices.
However, there are some specific situations in which it is advisable to use sunglasses instead of photochromic ones: when outdoor sports are practiced and in situations of bright light for example al big o in mountain.
In fact, doing outdoor sports and staying in places where the brightness and reflected light are very strong (for example sailing in the sea or cycling on the road) it is advisable to wear polarized glasses that have a total degree of coverage from UVA rays. and UVB.
]]>Summer is the favorite season to wear sunglasses. The strong light on the beach or in the city can cause great discomfort and lead to headaches and tired eyes. It becomes important to protect ourselves with dark lenses that they can shield the rays and make our eyesight more comfortable.
But which glasses to choose? And then, should we rely only on the elegance and shape of the frame or should we pay special attention to the lenses? And on what occasions will we wear glasses?
We are here to dispel all doubts and give some advice on how to choose the best pair of sunglasses. And, if that's not enough, we are waiting for you in our stores or online to give you all the suggestions you want!
I'm 3 aspects to keep in mind when choosing sunglasses, namely:
Based on these three parameters we can determine which sunglasses are best to choose.
But let's start with a question: how many types of sunglasses exist?
Lenses are the key part in choosing sunglasses. There are now many type of them, and each of these can on one hand serve for protect your eyes, on the other hand, to adapt to your style.
In the meantime, it is essential that the lenses are of good quality and certified. The first feature to consider is the UV400 protection.
The ultraviolet light that comes from sunrays on the one hand it can have beneficial effects, such as stimulating tanning, but in large quantities it can cause discomfort damage to both skin and eyes. Without adequate protection, the adverse effects can be both mild, such as redness, eye fatigue and headache, and more severe such as burns and cornea and pupil problems.
To adequately protect your eyes it is necessary that the sun lenses are of good quality, such as for example Zeiss lenses chosen by Mondelliani, and have UV400 protection which blocks most of the UV rays and allows the eye to see without excessively stressing it.
We also often hear about polarized lenses. Polarized lenses have a "screen" that blocks concentrated light reflected from snow, sea and asphalt, for example. Through a special treatment of the lenses, polarized light is reflected and the eyes have greater protection.
Of course! One thing does not exclude the other, on the contrary. Our advice is to look for lenses that have both solutions to be sure that the eye is adequately protected.
Meanwhile, let's dispel a myth: darker lenses do not necessarily protect the eye more. In fact, in the case of particularly dark lenses, the pupil dilates to let in more light and therefore absorbs more UV rays.
Today there are colored lenses of all kinds, from amber yellow to the darkest black. If equipped with an adequate UV filter, we can choose the lenses according to our personal taste and the comfort we feel wearing them. We can even hazard glasses with pink lenses, to have an even more paradisiacal view of the most beautiful season!
Through a particular mirroring technique it is possible to have "mirror" lenses. The lens is treated so that you have one fully reflective surface on the front, and almost completely preventing UV rays from reaching our eyes.
Also for this reason, mirrored glasses are often used by sportsmen. If we think of skiers or cyclists, they often use these glasses for greater comfort.
Not to mention the undeniable style that mirror lenses give!
To choose the frame we almost always rely on personal taste, and we choose the glasses most similar to us. Certainly a correct attitude, and at Mondelliani we know well how important it is for eyewear to be a accessory matching our look, but there are other aspects to consider as well.
We have already seen how the shape of the face is fundamental to decide the frame. Even if it is allowed to be daring, having some indications allows you to choose in a reasoned way which glasses to wear.
Again the answer is: depends. The important frames are certainly impactful but in the long run they can be annoying. Especially if we plan to use glasses on the beach and love to bask in the sun for hours, have glasses with a very large frame it can lead to taking them off frequently and not using them.
And how to choose between one frame in steel and one in acetate or plastic? In this case the answer is very simple: you have to rely on personal taste.
The shape of the glasses not only affects the our look, but also the vision. Use wraparound glasses, which fit well firm on the nose and do not slip especially when we sweat from the heat, it becomes important to have the most comfort and the major protection.
There is nothing more annoying than glasses that slide, or that do not allow you to look sideways without having an excessive gap between the direct and lateral vision. If for example the rectangular glasses they perfectly protect our eyes, it is not said that they are suitable for our face shape or that they are comfortable all day long.
Before choosing a pair of glasses it is important to try it on and see if it fits ours style but also ours need.
Finally, the color. It certainly does not affect the protection given by the lenses, but it is fundamental to our look.
A great classic. Blues Brothers look, goes with everything and does not create problems in combinations. We even say that we should all have a pair of black-rimmed glasses on hand.
Cold colors denote security, peace of mind and great elegance. Recommended for those who care about style and maintain a certain composure even during hot summer evenings or days on the beach.
Warm colors denote eccentricity, desire to appear and experience everything to the last. Recommended to those who are not afraid to expose themselves and to show themselves to the world with all their personality.
But even more important is to think about what use you make of the sunglasses. Will you only use them to show "your charisma and symptomatic mystery", Or do you often drive with sunglasses? Let's see how to choose them.
With the use of more and more perfected lenses, we now wear sunglasses even throughout the day It's not a problem. The eyes remain protected and we can safely use them always without straining your eyes. Even who needs graduated glasses today you can choose from an infinity of models equipped with correction.
Let's see some uses and some suggestions.
For a long time who needed corrective glasses had to adapt and could not choose suitable sunglasses. Today it is possible to have prescription sun lenses, which unite the protection from the sun's rays to the possibility of seeing ourselves better in all conditions.
They are certainly everyone's favorite occasion: the sun, the sea, relaxation and a nice pair of sunglasses to protect us.
The reflection of the sun and the sand amplify the effects of the rays, our advice is to choose a pair of glasses comfortable, to keep all day, and maybe have a second spare pair, always of good quality, to be used in an environment full of pitfalls such as sand, salt, sea water.
One environment in which sunglasses become almost indispensable for many is the street. Asphalt reflects during the day, and at sunset or early in the morning there direct sunlight it can cause glare and discomfort, also jeopardizing the safety.
It becomes essential to have gods comfortable glasses, with good protection, and that they manage to dampen the spokes to allow for one safe and comfortable driving.
As we have seen before, many sports disciplines require prolonged exposure to sunlight, especially when it comes to disciplines such as cycling or, in the winter months, skiing. In this case we recommend specific, polarized sunglasses with high protection.
Sunglasses are not just for practical use. They become a indispensable accessory for an aperitif with friends, a trip, a gala evening. In this case, our advice is: indulge yourself in the choice. Frame color, lenses, extravagant shapes, everything is fine in order not to go unnoticed and become the soul of the party!

The technology associated with sun lenses has grown over the years, becoming more and more sophisticated and able to adapt to different occasions. In addition, the lightness and comfort of the new lenses have given a comfort never seen before.
In the universe of different lenses, a separate story is that of Zeiss brand, our choice for sunglass lenses. We can say that we have certainly relied on the best and themost avant-garde company in the sector.
The company was founded in 1846 by Carl Zeiss, and immediately distinguished itself for the maniacal care with which precision optical equipment is produced. It is even said that the founder personally destroyed the microscopes that he said were not perfect!
It has since continued to be an avant-garde pole that has made the history of optics and technology, starting from lenses for microscopes and telescopes to get to the uses in the modern day space engineering, in nanotechnologies and semiconductors.
Sunglasses are an accessory dedicated not only to those who need to correct any vision defects, but are worn by anyone who wants protect yourself from the sun's rays and reflections.
While for prescription lenses, which are worn every day and which aim to show better, we try to choose a product that combines lightness and usefulness.
For sunglasses we see too often glasses with poor quality lenses, because maybe we think that in any case they will not be able to do too much harm.
Relying on low-value products can be counterproductive and absolutely can cause damage, and for this reason we have chosen to rely on Zeiss certain that we have made the best choice, knowing that we have aexcellence in optical technology and always at the forefront of research.
Zeiss sunglass lenses they adapt to the most diverse uses, since there must also be some for this type of lens differences based on the use made of it.
Sunglasses are an accessory dedicated not only to those who need to correct any vision defects, but are worn by anyone who wants to protect themselves from the sun's rays and reflections.
While for prescription lenses, which are worn every day and which aim to show better, we try to choose a product that combines lightness and usefulness, for sunglasses we see too often glasses with poor quality lenses, because maybe we think that in any case they will not be able to do too much harm.
However, relying on low-value products can be counterproductive and cause damage, and for this reason we have chosen to rely on Zeiss certain that we have made the best choice, knowing that we have excellence in optical technology and always at the forefront of research.
Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause vision difficulties and, in some cases, even vision problems. In fact, UVA and UVB rays, penetrating into the retina, can damage it exactly as happens with the skin when it is exposed to the sun's rays for too long and burns.
The symptoms of prolonged exposure to sunlight can be many, such as a sensation of eye fatigue, headache and, in severe cases, changes in vision.
One of the greatest difficulties with excessive exposure to the sun is the intensity with which the light reaches our eyes, forcing us to look away or not see well. Let's think about how annoying or even dangerous this can be in some cases, such as when glasses are used to drive on a sunny summer day. The Zeiss lenses mounted on our glasses have a special internal anti-reflective treatment, which improves vision even more and allows you to avoid the consequences of excessive light.
A factor not only of comfort or aesthetics, but also of safety.
It happens that some are unable to wear sunglasses because they feel an excessive difference between vision with sun lenses and without. To overcome this, Zeiss has developed and continues to develop more and more in its own laboratories a technology that allows you not to feel the difference too much and have maximum visual clarity in every situation, whether it is the strong light reflected from the sea or from the snow, as well as in case of light cloud cover.
In short, once you have worn the sunglasses with Zeiss lenses they protect our eyes and at the same time can be worn in all conditions, without the risk of having to remove and put them continuously according to the variability of light conditions.
Always to give us the best result, Zeiss has taken into account the need to have light glasses that do not tire the wearer. Being able to combine the best optical technologies and the most advanced solutions with lightness and comfort it is a challenge won, since at the same time these lenses manage to be useful, safe and very light to wear even all day.

So how do you go about choosing a pair of glasses, and which frame shape is best to choose to enhance your face shape?
Of course, it is certainly important that we like the glasses and are suitable for us. We can follow our instincts and our hearts, but just to understand where to start we have created this guide to help us choose better.
It is possible to have some general indications to understand where to start, to avoid making mistakes and to have a style that is suitable for us.
Meanwhile, let's start with the fundamental question:
Although each face has its own particular shape, we can define some common shapes from which to start when choosing the glasses:
To understand what shape your face has, you need to measure the different parts (chin, forehead and jaw) and understand the proportions.
As for the shapes of the frames, there are really many shapes and sizes, many of these have now become iconic. The teardrop shape recalls the American uniform, the round shape easily recalls John Lennon, while the oversized sunglasses recall Katharine Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
In short, many iconic shapes have become features of look and recall characters, singers and films.
But in order not to get lost in the many existing forms, at the moment we simplify by find the shape that best suits our face, so let's consider 3 types of frames:
In the oval face we have a greater roundness in the shapes of the forehead and jaw, and a greater length.
In particular, the lower part of the face is longer than the upper one.
The oval face, thanks to its characteristics, has the possibility to look good with any frame. So you are spoiled for choice: rectangular, round, cat-eye, you can choose the shape that best suits your style.
In the round face, the forehead and jaw are the same width, and the length of the face and the width between the cheekbones are also similar.
The shapes, as the name implies, are rounded and not very angular.
To give a leaner and longer shape to the face, and therefore enhance it, it is advisable to choose glasses with a rectangular or in any case broken shape.
In the heart-shaped face, the forehead is wider than the jaw, and the chin is rather pointed.
The cheekbones are higher than the oval face.
In this case it is possible to experiment with each pair of glasses, although we suggest choosing small-frame glasses to enhance the particular shape of the face.
In a square face, the forehead and jaw are similar in size. The lines are angular and not very marked, while the chin is not very sharp.
To soften the shapes and give greater harmony to the face, we suggest round or in any case rounded frames.
While knowing your face shape can help you figure out which glasses to start with, it is not certain that it is not possible to combine a round face, for example, with glasses that follow the shapes of the face.
Let's not forget that it is not only the shape that makes the style, but also the color of the frame and, why not, the type of lenses (for example the photochromic ones that darken by themselves when they are hit by the light) that leave an unmistakable mark on our face and on our outfit.
The combinations are endless, and we can experiment to see which one is best for us.
To choose the glasses that best suit your face, you can take a look at the glasses you find on our online store, or come and visit us in one of our stores, we will be delighted to recommend the frame that fits best on you.

In addition to the aesthetic question, we must also consider that striped eyewear may not do its job worthily, preventing us from seeing well or causing discomfort that can become problematic in the long run.
Today we want to suggest some artisanal remedies that could restore shine to your lenses and allow you to see again without problems.
ATTENTION: the methods described here are not to be considered definitive. In any case, it is essential to act with caution to avoid worsening the situation.
In addition, some systems may damage any anti-reflective or other coatings with which the lenses have been treated.
The reasons why a pair of glasses can get scratched are many, and for example taking little care in storing them can damage them immediately.
Glasses are so much a part of us and accompany us at all times, that we don't realize how delicate they can be.
Putting the glasses in your pocket, or in the dashboard of the car or worse still in your bag without protecting them properly can lead to lines over the lenses. It is therefore essential to always use one protective case, even better if rigid, which offers the right protection to our precious glasses.
For speed or for distraction it happens that the glasses are cleaned with ineffective or even harmful methods.
You shouldn't use a t-shirt or sweatshirt, or worse still a sweater to try to give them shine.
The fibers of cotton and wool are among the worst enemies of transparency and integrity, always better to use a microfiber cloth specially designed to remove dust and stains from lenses.
Also never use absorbent paper or toilet paper: the cellulose contained within them is very abrasive and can cause imperfections.
When not in use, the glasses must not be placed on the side of the lenses because it takes very little to find a scratch. Better to close them and place them on the side of the temples or horizontally, avoiding that the lenses come into contact with the surfaces.
You can ask your optician for a anti-scratch treatment for glasses, which greatly reduces the chance of your glasses getting scratched. At Mondelliani we always recommend treating the lenses in this way and we use the system Crizal Sapphire Of Essilor, to avoid costly repairs later. What's more, you can also have lens insurance so you don't have to worry about it in the future!
While we have followed all of these guidelines scrupulously, our glasses have suffered from superficial scratches that can be remedied. Let's see some suggestions.
One of the most suggested and most controversial home methods is the use of toothpaste. On the other hand, if it works so well on tooth enamel, why shouldn't it work on glasses?
You need to put a small amount of toothpaste on one finger and, with circular movements, rub for a few minutes on both sides. In this way the imperfections should disappear.
IMPORTANT: do not use whitening or microgranule toothpastes, as they contain abrasive substances that could worsen the situation.
Once you have rubbed your glasses, wash them with cold water and dry them with a microfiber cloth.
Real salvation for housework and more, bicarbonate is among the most versatile materials for cleaning surfaces.
Also to clean the lenses it can be useful to create a paste by dissolving a little bicarbonate with a few drops of water and rubbing the lenses always with circular movements for a few minutes.
Once the paste has been spread well, rinse the glasses with cold water.
Pay close attention to the do not touch the frame but only the lenses, as some materials may be damaged or bleached when rubbed with baking soda.
Usually wax and petroleum jelly are associated with cleaning metal parts of car bodies, but they can also be very useful for cleaning lenses. You have to spread them with circular movements and then remove them with a soft cloth.
In this way, it will be possible to assess the extent of the damage, to establish whether it is preferable to try to remove the scratches or if it is necessary to change the lenses.
At Mondelliani you will find all these services and much more, we are waiting for you!
]]>Having fogged-up glasses makes us live in a kind of perennial fog, and no matter how hard we try it happens that we can't see anything.
But there are tried and tested methods that will allow you not to worry anymore!
We want to introduce you to systems that in some cases may even surprise you, and which you probably hadn't thought of. For example, use shaving cream. Sounds strange, right?
To overcome the problem of fogged lenses once the mask has been put on, some have been created special clips that fit right where the mask rests on the nose and block water vapor. In fact, it happens that, with the mask, the breath is vented only upwards and therefore clouds the glasses. Using these clips, they can be in plastic, polyurethane or foam rubber, the breath is diverted to the sides and does not reach the glasses.
The only contraindication: at the beginning you can feel a bit stifled and it may take a while to find the right position.
There are various types and thicknesses, actually quite unsightly, so we recommend these perfectly flexible and sober aluminum ones, which can be purchased. its amazon
The method we recommend most frequently is to use special sprays which have been designed to avoid fogging. By spraying them over the lenses and drying them well with a microfiber cloth, they allow you to clean and protect them, creating a light vapor-resistant layer.
They are available both in a “home” version, in a larger format, and in a pocket version that you can always carry around for use whenever necessary.
They generally allow a protection of about 2-3 hours for every application.
These spries are available in our stores.
Exist both wet and dry, and they are probably the best choice when you are out and about and need an immediate solution that gives us the comfort of glasses that are always transparent and work even with the mask.
Very comfortable to keep in the bag, they are sold in single use packs which also eliminate the problem of always having to remember to bring a special microfibre cloth with you. The ideal solution for those who need practicality and immediacy.
A useful precaution, when you do not have specific products, is to keep the glasses resting not on the nose but directly on the mask, especially when using an FFP2.
However, it is not recommended for everyone, as the distance of the lenses to the eyes could create focusing problems.
And, let's face it, even the "old" effect could ruin our charm. However, it remains a valid advice in case of emergency.
Among the methods do it yourself, surely what we recommend most is to wash the lenses with Marseille soap. In fact, washing them with a neutral soap, and gently drying them always with a microfiber cloth, a protective layer will be created given by surfactants, substances that prevent any particles from sticking to the glasses. In this way the water vapor will not be able to bind to your lenses and you will be able to see better!
Another effective method is to use a dish soap to wash your lenses before going out, always taking care to dry them well. As with the Marseille soap, also in this case the surfactants will decrease the so-called "surface tension" and will repel the attack of fogging.
After all, if it works so well on crystal glasses, making them shiny and ready to use, why shouldn't it do the same on your lenses too?
Here is the guide to avoid making mistakes during this delicate operation and avoid scratching the glasses: How to clean your glasses
A really unorthodox method but come on amazing results. By applying a very small amount of shaving foam, and taking care to eliminate any residue well, the lenses will regain a great shine and will be protected from water vapor and temperature changes that cause the glasses to become fogged up.
A tip: use a neutral shaving foam, without any perfumes, otherwise the mentholated aroma could greatly annoy you when you go to wear your beautiful glasses.
Although we have already mentioned it several times, we recommend that you always have a special microfiber cloth with you to clean your glasses. Prevents them from being scratched, allows one perfect cleaning even when we simply have to clean the lenses without using anti-fog products, and allows us to always keep the glasses perfectly free from any speck of dust.
T-shirt flaps or kitchen towels can ruin the lenses or scratch them irreparably. Plus, it's never pleasant to see someone take off their glasses and rub them against their shirt to clean them. Even for this simple operation, it is always better to keep an impeccable style!
Not to mention that at Mondelliani you can find the new collection of microfiber bits SAVE THE PLANET, with prints that reproduce nineteenth-century botanical illustrations in a pop key. Furthermore, by purchasing our microfibres, help us save the planet because the proceeds from their sale will be donated entirely to the defense of important areas in Ecuador and Madagascar threatened by deforestation.
