RYO YAMASHITA

NATO IN TOKYO IN 1958, RYO YAMASHITA IS RECOGNIZED AS THE LAST CRAFTSMAN CAPABLE OF PRACTICING THE ANCIENT JAPANESE TECHNIQUE OF “EDO KINWAKU,” WHICH DATES BACK ABOUT 350 YEARS AGO, WHEN THE CAPITAL OF THE RISING SUN WAS STILL CALLED EDO.

Today, this technique is almost extinct, and few are able to carry it on.

RYO YAMASHITA'S EYEGLASS FRAMES, HANDCRAFTED USING THE TRADITIONAL EDO KINWAKU METHOD, ARE TRUE WORKS OF ART.

Each pair is custom-designed for the individual's face, using materials ranging from bamboo to gold, from silver to iron, always aiming to achieve that harmony that characterizes each of his works.

His skill in creating personalized eyewear, where aesthetics and functionality merge, makes each of his creations unique and valuable.
