NATO IN TOKYO IN 1958, RYO YAMASHITA IS RECOGNIZED AS THE LAST CRAFTSMAN CAPABLE OF PRACTICING THE ANCIENT JAPANESE TECHNIQUE OF “EDO KINWAKU,” WHICH DATES BACK ABOUT 350 YEARS AGO, WHEN THE CAPITAL OF THE RISING SUN WAS STILL CALLED EDO.
Today, this technique has almost disappeared, and few are able to carry it on.
Each pair is custom-designed for the face of the individual, using materials ranging from bamboo to gold, from silver to iron, always with the aim of achieving that harmony that characterizes each of his works.
