Come non far appannare gli occhiali

Glasses are an accessory often indispensable for many people, but what to do if, especially with the use of the mask, they fog up and do not allow for clear vision?

Having foggy glasses makes us live in a kind of perpetual fog, and no matter how hard we try, it happens that we can't see anything.

But there are tested and verified methods that will allow you to no longer worry!
We want to present you with systems that in some cases might even surprise you, and that you probably hadn't thought of. For example, using shaving foam. It sounds strange, right?

anti-fog-glasses

Use a clip

To solve the problem of fogged lenses once the mask is on, special clips have been created that fit right where the mask rests on the nose and block the water vapor. It happens that, with the mask, breath only escapes upwards and thus fogs the glasses. By using these clips, which can be made of plastic, polyurethane, or foam, the breath is diverted to the sides and does not reach the glasses.

The only downside: at first, you may feel a bit suffocated and it might take a while to find the right position.

There are various types and thicknesses, actually quite unaesthetic, so we recommend these perfectly flexible and discreet aluminum ones, available on Amazon

Anti-fog spray

The method we recommend most frequently is to use special sprays that have been designed to prevent fogging. Spraying them on the lenses and drying well with a microfiber cloth allows you to clean them and protect them, creating a light layer that is impervious to vapor.

They are available both in a "home" version, in a larger format, and in a pocket version to carry around and use whenever needed.

Generally, they provide about 2-3 hours of protection for each application.
These sprays are available at our retail locations.

Ready-to-use wipes

There are both wet and dry, and they are probably the best choice when you are out and need an immediate solution that gives you the comfort of always clear and functioning glasses even with the mask.

Very convenient to keep in your bag, they are sold in single-use packages that also eliminate the problem of always having to remember to bring a special microfiber cloth. The ideal solution for those who need practicality and immediacy.

Keep the glasses above the mask

A useful tip, when you don't have special products, is to keep the glasses resting not on the nose but directly on the mask, especially when using an FFP2.

However, this is not recommended for everyone, as the distance of the lenses from the eyes could create focusing problems.
And, let's admit it, the "old person" effect could ruin our charm.
Still, it remains a valid tip in case of emergency.

There are also more artisanal methods to avoid having foggy glasses. Methods that we are sure will surprise you.

Marseille soap

Among the do-it-yourself methods, the one we recommend the most is to wash the lenses with Marseille soap. By washing them with a neutral soap and gently drying them always with a microfiber cloth, a protective layer will be created by the surfactants, substances that prevent any particles from sticking to the glasses. In this way, water vapor will not have the chance to bond to your lenses and you will be able to see better!

Dish soap

Another effective method is to use dish soap to wash the lenses before going out, always being careful to dry them well. Just like with Marseille soap, in this case, the surfactants will reduce the so-called "surface tension" and repel the fogging attack.

After all, if it works so well on crystal glasses, making them shiny and ready to use, why shouldn't it do the same on your lenses?

Here is the guide to avoid mistakes during this delicate operation and prevent scratching the glasses: How to clean glasses

Shaving foam

A truly unorthodox method but with stunning results. By applying a tiny amount of shaving foam, and being careful to remove any residue, the lenses will regain great brightness and will be protected from water vapor and temperature fluctuations that cause glasses to fog up.

A suggestion: use a neutral shaving foam, without any fragrances, otherwise the menthol aroma might annoy you significantly when you go to wear your beautiful glasses.

Other tips to improve your vision at all times of the day.

Even though we have already mentioned it several times, we recommend always having a special microfiber cloth with you to clean your glasses. It prevents them from getting scratched, allows for perfect cleaning even when we simply need to clean the lenses without using anti-fog products, and keeps the glasses perfectly free from any speck of dust.

We advise against using other tools not specifically designed for cleaning

Edges of t-shirts or kitchen towels can ruin the lenses or scratch them irreparably. Moreover, it is never pleasant to see someone take off their glasses and rub them against their shirt to clean them. Even for this simple operation, it is always better to maintain an impeccable style!

Not to mention that at Mondelliani you can find the new collection of microfiber cloths SAVE THE PLANET, with prints that reinterpret in a pop key botanical illustrations from the 1800s.
